New jury rules explored at OCBA program, May 1
The Oakland County Bar Association will present "Jury Trials Under the New Rules: The Perspective from both sides of the Bench" on Tuesday, May 1, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Oakland County Bar Center.
As of Sept. 1, 2011, jurors can now ask question of witnesses, take notes to use during deliberations, and take trial exhibits into the jury room. This seminar will provide perspective and experiences from both judges and attorneys about these and other significant changes to the jury rules.
Providing the judicial perspective will be Oakland County Circuit Court Judges Michael D. Warren and Wendy L. Potts. Providing the attorney perspective will be Ven Johnson of Johnson Law PLC and Judith A. Susskind of Thurswell Law Firm. Attorney John A. Hubbard of Beals Hubbard PLC will act as moderator.
Pre-registration cost it $45 for OCBA members, $32 for OCBA new lawyers, and $60 for non-members. At the door cost is $60 for OCBA members, $42 for OCBA new lawyers, and $80 for non-members.
