Dept. of Corrections auditing supervision of Michigan probationers

LANSING (AP) -- The Michigan Department of Corrections is auditing the state's 70,000 parolees and probationers after one was arrested in the baseball bat beating death of his father and attack on other family members in Farmington. Director Daniel Heyns tells the Detroit Free Press that he ordered the audit follows Monday's killing as well as recent high-profile slayings where charges were brought against people under Corrections supervision. The audit will look at supervision of all 50,000 probationers and 20,000 parolees. On Tuesday, the department said officials suspended the unnamed probation agent who'd been supervising 19-year-old Tucker Cipriano. Cipriano had been placed on probation in February for drug convictions. He and another man are jailed in Monday's slaying of Robert Cipriano. Published: Thu, Apr 19, 2012
