MIGreatArtist contest's online voting ends Aug. 17
A few days remain to cast online votes for a favorite artist in the MIGreatArtist competition at www.MIGreatArtist.com. Nearly 10,000 online votes have been cast since July 25. Online voting ends Friday, Aug. 17.
"The response to the contest for its inaugural year has been outstanding," said Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson. "Not only did a number of artists submit great work, but their fans are showing their support with the click of a button."
Patterson and Park West Gallery Founder/CEO Albert Scaglione launched the contest at the Southfield gallery in June as another premier quality of life event for the Economic Growth Alliance region which includes Oakland, Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, and St. Clair counties.
The top 20 artists chosen through online voting will be posted at MIGreatArtist.com on Aug. 18. A five-member jury of art professionals will select five semi-finalists from the top 20 artists. The five semi-finalists will be announced Aug. 24. The winner then will be determined by a combination of jury score and public vote. The semi-finalists will be on display at Park West Gallery Sept. 4-28. The winner will be revealed Sept. 14 at an awards ceremony at Park West Gallery.
All submissions are original works of art that are 2-D, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, ink, pastel, and collage, among others. Photography and digital artworks were excluded from the competition.
