Patriot Lessons: Judge Warren and daughter launch new television program
In celebration of Patriot Week, Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Michael Warren and his 13-year-old daughter Leah announced the launching of a new television program "Patriot Lessons." Produced at Bloomfield Community Television (BCTV) and Birmingham Area Cable Board (BACB), "Patriot Lessons" renews America's spirit by exploring the First Principles, Founding Fathers and other Patriots, vital documents and speeches, and flags that make America the greatest nation in world history.
Using a format to engage, entertain and educate the audience, Patriot Lessons includes several segments, including a Patriot Quiz, Patriot Spotlight, Guest Interview, Leah's Lesson, Media Review, and Be a Patriot This Week Call to Action.
The first episode, which began airing Monday, focuses on Jury Duty. Special Guest retired Judge Fred Mester is highlighted, as is a media review of the classic, academy award winning film "Twelve Angry Men" by attorney Jennifer Grieco. Leah's Lesson, a two-minute segment by Leah, addresses youth of all ages. Judge Warren's Patriot Spotlight focuses on John Adams. Leah and Judge Warren review the quiz together.
Episodes featuring Abraham Lincoln, federalism, immigration, and religious liberty have already been produced and others are in production.
"Television is an excellent way to reach our citizens about the importance of being informed and engaged citizens, and we are thrilled to have this opportunity. 'Patriot Lessons' allows us to renew the spirit of America all year long," remarked Judge Warren. Leah added, "The program is fun, but also educates. It's a nice balance for a viewing audience who wants to learn more, but in an entertaining way."
The show will broadcast several times weekly on Bloomfield Hills and Bloomfield Township, Comcast Channel 15, ATT U-Verse Channel 99, and in Birmingham, Bingham Farms, Beverly Hills and Franklin, Comcast Channel 18, WOW Channel 18 and ATT U-Verse Channel 99. Episodes can be viewed on demand at www.BloomfieldTwp.Org/VOD, and will soon be posted on line at PatriotWeek.org.
In 2009, Judge Warren and Leah co-founded Patriot Week which runs from Sept. 11 through Sept. 17, the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution. To learn more about Patriot Week, visit www.PatriotWeek.org.
