Robber targets retired Muskegon County judge

MUSKEGON, Mich. (AP) -- A retired West Michigan judge was held at gunpoint during a robbery attempt outside a Muskegon church.
MLive.com reportedthat 80-year-old Thomas Linck was headed to a prayer vigil early last Friday morning inside St. Michael's Catholic Church and Prayer Chapel when a man demanded his wallet in the parking lot.
Police say the 26-year-old suspect allegedly fired shots when Linck refused to hand over the wallet. Linck was not hurt.
Romero Neal was arrested a block away. He was arraigned last Friday in 60th District Court on assault with intent to rob while armed and other charges.
The Associated Press was unable to determine if Neal had an attorney.
Linck spent 21 years on the bench, retiring in 1996 as Muskegon County probate judge.
