Commissioner announces expansion of homeland security in Holly Township
On Wednesday, Nov. 28, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners approved the Severe Weather Warning System Interlocal Agreement with Holly Township. In this agreement, the county and Holly Township will share the costs of purchasing the tornado sirens that will be used to expand the Oakland County Outdoor Warning System. The two sirens will provide better coverage in the northern end of the township with construction beginning in December.
Holly Township will invest $34,500 and the county will provide $11,500 in funding. The county's portion of funding has been provided and secured from a 2008 Urban Area Security Initiative Grant and will cover the estimated costs of the siren.
"This agreement demonstrates the importance of collaborative efforts between the county and community's like Holly Township. It shows the benefits of pooling our resources together," stated Oakland County Commissioner Bob Hoffman, who serves Holly Township.
