Juvenile Drug Court presents art exhibit
The Oakland County Family-Focused Juvenile Drug Court will once again be presenting "Self-Exploration Through Art" on Tuesday, March 19, on the second floor of the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court, 1200 North Telegraph in Pontiac. The reception and art viewing will begin at 4 p.m. with remarks from Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Mary Ellen Brennan at 4:30 p.m.
The Juvenile Drug Court program is designed to address the problem of substance abuse for eligible youth in the Oakland County juvenile justice system.
Participants of the Juvenile Drug Court have taken part in a six-week art therapy program designed to provide insight into the therapeutic aspects of art as a means of self-exploration.
Family therapist Ellene Corace led the project wherein students were given various mediums and asked to explore self-expression through visual imagery. The works of art selected will be unveiled for the first time at this event.
For additional information about this program, contact Jackie Howes-Evanson at 248-452-2154.
