Ex-law clerk pleads guilty in traffic ticket case
WARREN (AP) -- A former suburban Detroit law clerk accused of illegally accepting a few hundred dollars to help someone deal with a traffic ticket has pleaded guilty to embezzlement.
Defense lawyer Thomas Tomko says Wisam Mikho made the plea last week to one misdemeanor count and was sentenced to a year of probation and 200 hours of community service.
Mikho was a law student working in Warren's legal department and was authorized to prosecute traffic cases. A woman told police she gave money to Mikho at the courthouse on the day she had a hearing for a traffic violation and thought the ticket was resolved.
The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens says Mikho was fired following the March incident.
Tomko says his client hopes to show this was an isolated incident.
