Duggan appeals to get on Detroit mayoral ballot
DETROIT (AP) -- Former Detroit Medical Center chief Mike Duggan is appealing a decision that bars him from the ballot in Detroit's race for mayor.
The appeal was filed Wednesday, a day after Wayne County Circuit Judge Lita Popke said Duggan didn't qualify for the August primary election.
Duggan is considered one of the leading candidates to succeed Mayor Dave Bing, who is not seeking re-election.
Duggan was removed from the ballot after a rival, Tom Barrow, said Duggan wasn't registered long enough as a city voter when he filed petitions for the mayor's race.
