CYBERSPACE SIGHTING: Firm launches electronic payments law blog
The Electronic Payments Practice Group of Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer, & Weiss PC has launched a new legal and business blog, ElectronicPaymentsLaw.com.
Authored by Jaffe partners and attorneys--Holli Targan, Jill Miller, Sarah Weston, Heather Maldegen-Long, Joel Alam, Eric Linden, and Andrew Hayner--the blog examines the legal challenges and business opportunities that are generated by the quickly evolving electronic payments industry. Topics on the blog address issues critical to the card processing and payments business, and provide key insights on legal and regulatory developments, business trends and mobile payments. The group's goal is to educate readers and encourage insightful discussions surrounding our technology-driven commerce system.
"ElectronicPaymentsLaw.com is an ideal forum to stay connected with our click-of-a-button society," said Targan, Electronic Payments Group chairperson. "This area of law is impacted by each technological advancement, which is occurring at a dizzying pace, and our blog provides informed viewpoints and clarity to the payments community."
With decades of experience, the Electronic Payments Law Group specializes in the legal issues surrounding payment card processing, as well as mobile payments, ATM, ACH and stored-value systems, both domestically and internationally. The team's seven attorneys counsel both large and small electronic payments clients on a variety of matters, including state and federal regulatory compliance, contractual issues, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, tax, bankruptcy and entity formation. Active and visible in the electronic payments business community, the group's attorneys frequently write for industry publications, conduct legal seminars, and serve on national panels and as officers of trade associations. Targan currently serves as president-elect of the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA).
