Bernanke to hold town hall meeting with teachers

By Martin Crutsinger AP Economics Writer WASHINGTON (AP) -- Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke will be celebrating the central bank's 100th birthday with a town hall meeting with teachers. The town hall in November will feature educators gathered in the central bank's board room in Washington and also participating by videoconference from the Fed's regional banks throughout the country. Bernanke plans to speak briefly about how the nation's central bank was created by legislation signed into law by President Woodrow Wilson in December 1913. He will then take questions from the educators. Bernanke held similar town hall meetings with educators in 2010 and 2012. The Fed will webcast the town hall at www.ustream.tv/channel/federalreserve and will also cover the event through its Twitter feed, @FederalReserve.
