Marijuana-using parents regain custody of child

LANSING (AP) -- A Michigan judge has returned an infant to her medical marijuana-using parents after the child was seized by the state. WILX-TV reports that Steve and Maria Green reached an agreement with an Ingham County Probate Court judge that allows the state to conduct random home visits. They also have to attend parenting classes. The family's attorney Joshua Covert says there will be "some type of regular" testing of the girl to prove the child is not exposed to marijuana. The girl was seized last month and placed with relatives. Covert has said both parents have cards permitting marijuana use. In May, Attorney General Bill Schuette said parents who use medical marijuana aren't disqualified from having custody of children, although there can be exceptions. Published: Tue, Oct 29, 2013
