Woman gets prison for faking illness to flee jail
HOWELL, Mich. (AP) -- A convicted meth dealer who faked a pregnancy-related problem in an effort to escape from the Livingston County jail has received a 13- to 30-year prison sentence.
Sheriff Bob Bezotte says Ray Lynn Dennis of Fowlerville used red Kool-Aid to pretend she was bleeding and having pregnancy complications.
Deputies took her to the hospital, but a doctor concluded she wasn't bleeding and had been faking distress. Bezotte says Dennis planned to use the hospital visit as a way to escape.
She was in jail after pleading guilty to delivering meth and operating a meth lab. Circuit Judge Michael Hatty sentenced her last month.
