Polish American Legal Society plans meeting
The Polish American Legal Society (PALS) will host its next monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 16, beginning at 6 p.m. at Polish Village Cafe, 2nd Floor, 2990 Yemens Ave. in Hamtramck.
The guest speaker will be Matthew R. Abel, the executive director of National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. Abel's law firm handles marijuana possession, trafficking, and distribution cases throughout the state of Michigan. His marijuana-specific practice areas include smuggling issues on the U.S.-Canadian border, asset forfeiture that victimizes clients, and questionable drug testing procedures. When he is not passionately advocating for the rights of doctors, patients, cultivators, and caregivers, Abel is an equally passionate activist for changes in marijuana laws. His quest for justice for marijuana defendants led to his participation in the political process as a Green Party candidate.
