Domestic Violence Prevention awards to recognize six for their service
On Wednesday, Oct. 8, from noon to 1 p.m., the Oakland County Coordinating Council Against Domestic Violence (OCCCADV) will conduct its annual Oakland County Domestic Violence Prevention Awards Ceremony in the Oakland County Commissioners Auditorium located in Pontiac.
The OCCCADV will honor six community members who have demonstrated exemplary service to victims of domestic violence. "Their efforts increase the safety of victims and raise awareness about domestic violence in our community," said the Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Lisa Gorcyca, chair of the OCCCADV.
Domestic Violence Prevention Award Recipients are: Assistant Prosecutor Lisa Harris from the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office; Regina Goshorn, volunteer attorney with Common Ground; Sgt. Jen Miles, from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office; Brian Dawson, social worker with Huron Valley Schools.
Domestic Violence Hero Award Recipients are: Sue Lancaster, City of Troy assistant attorney; Lowe Campbell Ewald, a marketing and communications agency.
This ceremony will also memorialize domestic violence victims who have tragically lost their lives in Oakland County and will feature a performance by The Cranbrook-Kingswood Madrigals from Cranbrook Schools.
All are welcome to attend. This event will be interpreted into American Sign Language.
Lunch served immediately following the Ceremony graciously provided by Olive Garden, 700 Brown Road, Auburn Hills.
