Ex-prep star pleads guilty to probation violation
DETROIT (AP) - Ex-Detroit prep football star Jayru Campbell has pleaded guilty to violating probation after his conviction for assaulting a school security guard.
The 17-year-old made the plea Wednesday. Wayne County Circuit Judge Timothy Kenny is scheduled to sentence him next month.
Prosecutors say Campbell assaulted his 17-year-old girl in a stairwell at Cass Technical High School on Sept. 12. That's the same day he left jail after serving a sentence for body-slamming a security officer in his school.
Campbell remains in jail awaiting a Nov. 7 pretrial hearing on a domestic violence charge from the Sept. 12 incident.
