Supreme Court rejects appeal in Flint stabbings
FLINT (AP) - The Michigan Supreme Court has turned down an appeal from a man who was convicted of murder in a series of stabbings in the Flint area in 2010.
In an order last Wednesday, the court says it's not persuaded to look at the case of Elias Abuelazam who was convicted of killing Arnold Minor in Genesee County.
Abuelazam was charged with two more murders and six attempted murders. But the prosecutor plans no more trials because Abuelazam already has a life sentence.
Fourteen people were stabbed in 2010; five died. Abuelazam told experts he was under the spell of demons, but the jury in the Minor case rejected an insanity defense.
Separately, Abuelazam is suing to try to get deported to a prison in Israel, his native country.
