Genesee County, Flint to merge two district courts
FLINT, Mich. (AP) - The city of Flint will work with Genesee County to consolidate two district courts by 2016.
Flint officials said last Thursday they supported county commissioners' decision to proceed with the consolidation of the 67th and 68th District Courts. Flint emergency manager Darnell Earley plans to approve the implementation plan by early 2015.
Earley says the consolidation will help share services and limit costs. He says the merger reflects the best financial practices and the best use of personnel and resources.
Officials say the effective date for implementing the merger will be Jan. 2, 2016.
