RV maker, automaker plan expansion projects in Mich.

LANSING (AP) - Officials say recreational vehicle maker Forest River Manufacturing and automaker Toyota are planning Michigan expansions. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation on Tuesday announced Michigan Strategic Fund approvals for the projects. Michigan says Elkhart, Indiana-based Forest River Manufacturing plans to construct three facilities in the southwestern Michigan village of White Pigeon. The project is expected generate a capital investment of more than $7 million and create nearly 400 jobs. The company is getting a $350,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America is proposing to expand a facility in Washtenaw County's Ann Arbor Township, investing $75.15 million and creating 85 jobs. An earlier Michigan Business Development Program grant is being increased by $1 million. Both projects also are expected to get local property tax abatements. Published: Thu, Jan 29, 2015
