Oakland County Commissioner Helaine Zack (D-Huntington Woods) has been selected as the recipient of the 2019 Volunteer Leadership Award from Area Agency on Aging 1-B (AAA 1-B). This distinguished annual award recognizes an exceptional AAA 1-B volunteer for their commitment and contributions to the organization’s mission of enhancing the lives of older adults and adults with disabilities.
“In selecting an individual to receive this award, we look for someone who has made a significant difference and lasting contributions toward improving the quality of life for older southeast Michigan residents. Efforts spearheaded by Commissioner Zack have touched and improved the lives of many older adults and their family caregivers,” said Jim McGuire, AAA 1-B director of Research Policy Development and Advocacy.
“I am honored to receive this award from Area Agency Aging 1-B, which does such wonderful and critical work for the seniors in our community,” said Zack.
The award will be presented to Zack this Friday, May 10, 2019, at the AAA 1-B Annual Community Meeting, which will be held at Glen Oaks in Farmington Hills. The event includes a silent auction and a luncheon, with all the profits going to support the organization’s Holiday Meals on Wheels initiative.
