Craft beer focus of educational and social event hosted by ACC-MI
The Association of Corporate Counsel, Michigan Chapter, with Miller Canfield will co-host an educational and social event titled "Are You a Craft Beer Aficionado?" on Wednesday, October 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the offices of Miller Canfield, 150 West Jefferson, Suite 2500, in Detroit.
Miller Canfield craft beverage attorneys Joe Infante and Chris Gartman will explore the tastes, aromas and surroundings that contribute to a beer's overall flavor, featuring some of Michigan's time-tested beers highlighting how the human body and brain perceives and detects flavor. They will also discuss different types of liquor licenses; non-profit special licenses and events; raffles/auctions involving alcohol; as well as interesting information on varying liquor laws in Michigan and around the country.
Many brewers are former lawyers; Gartman is the rare lawyer who is a former brewer. Before and since being admitted to the bar in 2011, he brewed professionally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and London, England. His responsibilities ranged from tour guide and barrel program manager to lab tech, product safety manager and head brewer. His brewery, winery and distillery clients benefit from his technical and operational knowledge, in addition to his regulatory and business expertise.
For more than a decade, Infante has blended his love for craft beer with his legal practice. He leads the Craft Beverage Manufacturers industry team at Miller Canfield. Infante represents breweries, wineries and distilleries across the country and assists them with navigating the complicated regulatory landscapes they face. He has a one of a kind legal practice in Michigan and is a nationally recognized expert in the alcohol beverage industry.
The October 27 event will feature:
- Beer Tasting-4 to 4:30 p.m.
- Presentation-4:30 to 5 p.m.
- Networking-5 to 6:00 p.m.
