Senators introduce Judge Francis Kay Behm in Judiciary Committee hearing

U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow (MI) and Gary Peters (MI) on Wednesday introduced Judge F. Kay Behm to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee for a hearing considering her nomination to be U.S. District Court judge to the Eastern District of Michigan. Behm was nominated by President Biden on June 29. A video of the hearing can be viewed online at www.judiciary.senate.gov/meetings/07/27/2022/nominations.
In her introduction, Stabenow said, “Judge Behm represents the best of Michigan. I have no doubt that she will continue to serve the people of Michigan well on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.”

“Judge Behm’s fairness and impartiality on behalf of children and families and all those who have appeared before her in Genesee County have earned her significant respect,” said Peters. “Her colleagues and those who have appeared before Judge Behm describe her as one of the top jurists that they have ever interacted with—and as someone who has the experience, the temperament, and passion to be a distinguished member of the federal bench. I have every confidence in Judge Behm’s abilities and look forward to seeing her serve on the federal bench.”

Behm has served as a judge for the Genesee County Circuit and Probate Courts since 2009. She was previously a solo practitioner from 2008 to 2009. From 1997 to 2008, Behm was an associate at Winegarden, Haley, Lindholm, & Robertson in Flint and an associate at Braun, Kendrick, Finbeiner in Saginaw from 1994 to 1997. Behm received her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1994 and her B.A. from Albion College in 1991.
