'Estate Planning with Electronic and Regulated Assets' explored in webcast

American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education (ALI-CLE) will present the webcast "Estate Planning with Electronic and Regulated Assets" on Monday, November 21, from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Unique or unusual assets from non-fungible tokens to firearms pose novel challenges to estate planners and fiduciaries particularly when it comes to administration of the estate. The need to both carry out the donor's wishes and maintain the value for beneficiaries can come with different considerations from the more "garden variety" asset particularly if the estate planner and/or fiduciary is not aware of their existence. In this webcast, the faculty of experienced estate planners all Fellows of American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) will explore different types of electronic and regulated assets and the issues you must take into consideration with each.

Attorneys who have clients with electronic (cryptocurrency; non-fungible tokens) or regulated assets (such as cannabis, firearms, ivory, and eagle feathers), will learn from a discussion that dives into:

- Benefits and risks of ownership of these assets

- Legal obligations with contraband

- The wide berth of fiduciary responsibilities

- Possible paths for indemnification or to release liability does it work?

- What the future may hold

Questions submitted during the program will be answered live by the faculty. All registrants will receive a set of downloadable course materials to accompany the program.

Estate planners and other related professionals who want to better understand the planning and administration issues that come with unique assets will benefit from watching this webcast, jointly offered by ALI-CLE and ACTEC.

Cost for the webcast is $249. To register, visit www.ali-cle.org.
