Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner's Office continues special water education partnership at the Michigan State Fair

The Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner’s (WRC) office, in conjunction with their new fair partner, the United Way for Southeastern Michigan, will share valuable information, including the importance of natural water resources, with thousands of visitors at the Michigan State Fair.

“Since 2018, my office has partnered with the Michigan State Fair to promote the importance of water resources and the connection with agriculture,” said Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash. “This year, for the first-time, United Way for Southeastern Michigan has joined in this effort.”

The teams plan to share information on the:

• Great Lakes Water Authority’s Water Residential Assistance Program

• Oakland County Water Resources Hardship Assistance Program

• United Way for Southeast Michigan’s 2-1-1 Services

• Oakland County Water Resources Kids’ Clean Water Calendar Contest

• Oakland County Water Resources Workforce Development Job Shadow Program

For years, fair visitors have been able to ask questions on a variety of water-related issues. The two teams look forward to providing face-to-face engagement with the public attending the area’s heritage event.

Beginning Thursday, Aug. 31 through Monday, Sept. 4, representatives will be at the dedicated booth in the Interior Vendor Hall, located at 46100 Grand River Ave. in Novi. The vendor hall will be open until 7 p.m., but representatives from WRC and United Way will be present daily until 5 p.m. The fair hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends, with special holiday hours on Labor Day, Sept. 4, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
