The Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, hosted the the Barbara Rom/Ed Rakow/Historical Society Luncheon on Wednesday, November 15, at the Atheneum Hotel in Detroit. Among those attending the event were (left to right) Assistant U.S. Attorney Susan Fairchild; U.S. Bankruptcy Court Chief Judge Daniel Opperman; Lt. Col. Peter Ankney, USMC, inspector-instructor, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines; FBA President George Donnini; FBA Vice President Charissa Potts; John Sier, committee co-chair of the FBA Law Day Committee (committee recipient of the Edward Rakow Grant); U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Lisa Gretchko; U.S. District Court Judge Gershwin Drain; Judy Christie, retiring executive director of Court Historical Society; FBA Immediate Past-President Jennifer Newby; retired Judge Victoria Roberts; U.S. District Court Judge Terrence Berg; U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Anthony Patti; U.S. District Court Judge Shalina Kumar; FBA Program Chair Matt Allen; and keynote speaker Major General John R. Ewers Jr., USMC. During the luncheon, this year’s Barbara J. Rom Award for Bankruptcy Excellence was presented to Lynn M. Brimer of Strobl Sharp PLLC.
