U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary
Peters on Thursday introduced Robert White to the U.S. Senate Judiciary
Committee during a hearing considering his nomination to be a U.S. District
Court judge for the Eastern District of Michigan. White was nominated by
President Biden on January 10.
In her introduction, Stabenow said, “It’s no surprise that the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary unanimously rated Mr. White as well-qualified. He is an outstanding nominee, and I wholeheartedly support his nomination and his continued service to the people of Michigan.”
In his introduction, Peters said, “The federal bench is a pillar of American democracy. We need qualified, committed citizens to serve as judges in order to uphold the rule of law, keep our communities safe, and restore faith in our democratic institutions. Robert White has the experience and the temperament necessary for that service, and I have every confidence he will be confirmed by the Senate and will honorably represent Michigan and the entire country on the federal bench.”
White has been an assistant United States attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan since 2018. Previously, White served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas from 2014 to 2018. Before that, he worked as an associate attorney at Ralph E. Meczyk and Associates from 2010 to 2014.
White received his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2010 and his B.A. from the University of Michigan in 2007.
