The National Center for State Courts will present a webinar on “Criminal Jurisdiction in Indian Country” Wednesday, February 21, from 1 to 2 p.m. via Zoom.
Melody McCoy—staff attorney, Native American Rights Fund (NARF) & former co-chair, Federal Bar Association’s Indian Law Conference—will present a timely program about criminal jurisdiction in Indian Country. This webinar is sponsored and moderated by the Tribal Relations Committee of the Conference of Chief Justices (CCJ) and the Conference of State Court Administrators (COSCA).
McCoy will discuss the state of the law after two landmark U.S. Supreme Court decisions: Oklahoma v. Castro-Huerta and McGirt v. Oklahoma. She will discuss the Supreme Court holdings, subsequent state and federal cases and commentary, and implications for the future.
