‘Sidewalk System Maintenance Programs’ examined online

Oakland County Planning, Zoning, and Land Use will conduct a Virtual Planners Gathering on “Sidewalk System Maintenance Programs” Wednesday, February 28, from 10 to 11 a.m. via Zoom.

Sidewalks are an integral part of many community transportation systems, allowing people to walk to and from their destinations. However, as with any infrastructure, maintenance and adjustments to sidewalk networks are necessary to keep them safe and responsive to changes in pedestrian demand. Madison Heights and Royal Oak have extensive sidewalk networks in place and have developed ongoing programs to keep them connected and serviceable.

The guest speakers will be Holly Donoghue, city engineer, City of Royal Oak; and Sean Ballantine, director – Department of Public Services, City of Madison Heights.

Anyone with questions should contact Jim Schafer at schaferj@oakgov.com or 248-858-2033.
