New gift challenges donors to enhance law school

A generous donor has presented a rare and significant fundraising opportunity to advance legal education in Detroit.

E. Powell Miller has established a six-month challenge to match dollar-for-dollar up to $1 million for all gifts made to Wayne State University Law School. This challenge, which will run through September 30 has the potential to raise $2 million in support for Wayne Law’s programs, students and faculty members.

“This is a significant opportunity for Wayne Law donors to see the power of their gifts amplified,” Dean Richard Bierschbach said. “We are grateful for this investment by alumnus and longtime supporter, E. Powell Miller, in the Law School, and thrilled that Powell wants to encourage even more support.”

Any gift to Wayne Law during this time, up to a gross total of $1 million, will be matched. Donors are encouraged to make gifts to the school in the area most meaningful to them, Miller’s funds will be designated to a specific program within the school.
