Governor makes appointment to 52-3 court

Last week, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced an appointment of Laura Polizzi to the Oakland County 52-3 District Court.

“I am truly honored to be appointed to the 52-3 District Court and thankful to the governor for this opportunity to serve the community that my family calls home,” said Polizzi. “I am humbled by this opportunity, and I will work to ensure that all individuals are treated fairly, with respect, and equal access to justice.”

Polizzi is a partner at Polizzi & Medley Law and litigates domestic, business, real estate, juvenile, and criminal matters. Laura has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Michigan Rising Star from 2018 through 2024. She serves on the board of directors for the Macomb County Bar Association and Macomb County Bar Foundation. Previously, she served as president of the Women’s Lawyers Association of Michigan, Macomb Region. Polizzi is also a representative in the State Bar of Michigan Representative Assembly, and she is on the State Bar of Michigan Character and Fitness Committee.

Polizzi is bilingual and represents many Spanish speaking clients. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from Oakland University and her law degree from Cooley Law School.

This appointment was made to fill a partial term following the resignation of Judge Julie A. Nicholson. Ms. Polizzi’s term will commence on May 26 and expire at twelve o’clock noon on January 1, 2025.
