Docket conversion taking place in 2025

Beginning January 1, 2025, the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court will consist of eight family division judges and twelve civil/criminal division judges two of whom are assigned a business court docket.

Due to judicial term limits, Judge Phyllis McMillen’s general jurisdiction seat on the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court will be open for election in November of 2024. On May 7, 2024, the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court Bench made a unanimous decision to convert McMillen’s civil/criminal division docket to a family docket. The prevailing candidate will be seated in January 2025 and serve a 6-year term.

McMillen’s docket will be randomly divided among the remaining 12 civil/criminal judges. To accommodate the 8th family division docket, cases will be randomly reassigned from existing family and juvenile division dockets. The Friend of the Court and Juvenile Division staffing will be adjusted to accommodate the new family division docket.

It will take several months for the docket conversion. Reassignments will occur at the end of December 2024. However, the court website, www.oakgov.com/circuit, will provide
additional information on the docket changes as soon as practicable.
