Law professor to discuss ‘Lawyers, Guns, Pleading’

The Eastern District of Michigan Bar Association will present “Lawyers, Guns, and Pleading: What NRA v. Vullo Has Done to Pleading Standards” on Thursday, February 27, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the offices of Miller Canfield, 150 W. Jefferson Ave., Ste. 2500, in Detroit.

The program will feature Professor Alex Reinert, director of the Center for Rights and Justice at Cardozo Law. Reinert will discuss the recent SCOTUS case, NRA v. Vullo, a First Amendment case arising out the Parkland school shooting. His lecture will focus on how the case changed pleading standards, and there will be time for a Q&A session.

Reinert has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court in Ashcroft v. Iqbal. He has also testified in Congress on qualified immunity and frequently trains legal professionals on civil rights doctrine. His work is published in several law reviews and has been featured in the New York Times.
