The State Appellate Defender Office and the Michigan Appellate Assigned Counsel System will present the webinar “Are You an Independent Investigator or Mitigation Specialist?” on Tuesday, August 12, from noon to 1:15 p.m. via Zoom.
Anyone interested in working on the defense team for private counsel criminal appeals in Michigan can join SADO and MAACS for an informational session for independent investigators and mitigation specialists who may be interested in doing work in criminal appeals for the private bar.
Attendees will learn how to put skills to use by joining private practitioners to conduct fact or life history investigations for people currently incarcerated and appealing their felony convictions; and learn about the type of work available, remote work possibilities, payment procedures and rates, and how to help obtain just results.
