The Michigan Judicial Institute and Friend of the Court Bureau will present a webinar on “Custody and Parenting Time Enforcement Myths” Thursday, August 28, from 9 to 10 a.m. via Zoom.
MCL 552.511b requires the friend of the court (FOC) to initiate enforcement if the office receives a written complaint that states specific facts constituting a custody or parenting time order violation. MCL 552.641 lists procedures available to the FOC to enforce a custody and parenting time violation. Recently the State Court Administrative Office’s Friend of the Court Bureau (FOCB) updated its Custody and Parenting Time Enforcement Guidelines FOCB Memorandum 2025-02.
This webinar will discuss the changes to the guidelines and best practice procedures for FOCs to enforce custody and parenting time violations. The webinar will also discuss enforcement remedies available to judges and referees pursuant to MCL 552.644 and MCL 552.645.
Speaking at the program will be management analysts Dr. Timothy Cole and Amy Lindholm of the Friend of the Court Bureau, State Court Administrative Office, Michigan Supreme Court.
