Man pleads guilty to charges related to fatal car crash

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Tayassukh Ayman, a 21-year-old Warren, MI man, pled guilty to charges related to a February 25, 2025 car crash which resulted in the death of 53-year-old Mohammed Ali, also of Warren. The plea bargain was negotiated in response to the expressed wishes of the victim's family.

The accident in February 2025 occurred after the vehicle Ayman was driving struck a 2013 Honda Accord driven by Shahjahan Tamim. It is alleged that Ayman was speeding when Tamim’s vehicle turned in front of Ayman. Ayman could not stop and the vehicles collided. Ali was killed and passenger Sanjina Mumu was seriously injured.

On Wednesday, August 6, Ayman pleaded guilty to the following added charges: Moving Violation Causing Death and Moving Violation Causing Serious Impairment of a Body Function. Both charges are misdemeanors. Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Julie Gatti accepted Ayman’s plea.

Ayman’s original charges of Reckless Driving Causing Death, a 15-year felony, and Reckless Driving Causing Serious Impairment of a Body Function, a 5-year felony were dismissed upon his guilty plea.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office agreed to the plea bargain after the victims’ family representative requested the Office not move forward with the prosecution on the original charges. As a result of the plea agreement, Ayman acknowledged his guilt and will face consequences. The victims and their family members, including Muhammad Ali’s wife, agreed with this result. Their representative stated their agreement of the plea and sentence on the record before Judge Gatti.

There is a sentence agreement whereby Ayman will serve 364 days in the Macomb County Jail, followed by two years probation. The sentencing will take place on Wednesday, October 1, at the Macomb County Circuit Court before Judge Julie Gatti.
