OBITUARY: Russell Charles Anderson

Russell Charles Anderson, age 58 of Waterford, passed away August 7.

The proud son of the late Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Robert C. Anderson and Francile M. (Worthman) Anderson, Russ lived his whole life in Waterford growing up on Silver Lake.  He graduated from Pontiac Central in 1985, Michigan State University in 1989, and Detroit College of Law in 1993.

Anderson worked at Oakland County Circuit Court for the late Judge Gene Schnelz while going to law school. In 1993, he joined the law firm of Schmidt, Isgrigg, and McMillen and became a partner in 1998, where he remained in that capacity at Schmidt, Isgrigg, Anderson and Miller until his passing.  He served as a magistrate at the 51st Judicial District Court since 2015.

Anderson loved sports and was an athlete. In high school, he was on the football, track, swim and even the wrestling team. He was an All-State/All-County football player and had the privilege of playing football for Michigan State University for two years. He was a piano player and spent hours playing his grand piano. Anderson spent his whole life waterskiing and barefoot waterskiing on Silver Lake. In the summer he skied every morning, weather permitting, at sunrise with the “Breakfast Club.” In the winter, he loved snowmobiling in northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.

Anderson was married to Kristi (or Blondie as he often called her) for 30 years. Their relationship started at the Oakland County Courthouse in 1990 and they were married in November 1994. They were each other’s soulmate and best friend. Although they did not have children, they had many Great Danes. Anderson loved his boys Barney, Beau, Bailey, Bozley, Brody, Baxter, and Bosco.

Anderson was a shining light.  He was gracious. His positivity was overflowing. His personality was larger than life.  His smile would light up a room. He loved his family, friends, lake community and serving his Waterford community with all his heart.  He had a passion for the law and helping people. It was with great pride that he was able to continue his parents amazing legacy in the legal community. Anyone that met Anderson, loved him.
