Planning and zoning for solar PV focus of Virtual Planners Gathering

Oakland County Planning, Zoning, and Land Use will conduct a Virtual Planners Gathering on “Best Practices in Planning and Zoning for Solar PV” Tuesday, October 7, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. via Zoom.

A local government’s approach to zoning and development can have a significant impact on solar energy growth. The inclusion of solar energy planning and zoning best practices provides a foundation that can help facilitate the growth of solar energy, while balancing other development priorities in a community.

This free training course provides communities with strategies for incorporating solar into plans, ordinances, and development regulations—and is scheduled for 1.5 hours to ensure enough time to cover the technical details needed to implement best practices.

Speaking at the program will be:

• Nicole Card, sustainability specialist, Oakland County Office of Sustainability

• Deb Perry, program director of Clean Energy and Climate Resiliency, International City/County Management Association (ICMA)
