Golfing for veterans
The 10th annual Oakland County Bar Association Veterans Committee Golf Outing produced a number of winners September 15 at Paint Creek Country Club in Lake Orion. A record number of golfers turned out for the event, which served as a fund-raiser for the Vets Returning Home shelter in Roseville that provides assistance to homeless military vets. On hand to welcome the golfers were (seated, left to right) Kristina Darrow, Mike Schloff of Michael D. Schloff PLLC, and Elias Escobedo of Elias J. Escobedo Jr. PLLC; along with (standing, left to right) William Lynch of Fryhoff & Lynch PLLC, James Zellen of Zellen & Zellen PLLC, and Victoria King of the Oakland County Circuit Court.

The winning team of Mark Werder, Alan Gershel, Dean Watson (pictured left to right), and Paul Andoni carded an 11-under score of 60 to claim first place honors at the outing, which attracted nearly 100 golfers to the scenic Paint Creek layout, according to tourney organizer Mike Schloff, a past president of the OCBA. Attorney Mike Condit won the closest to the pin contest for men, while Rachel Pawlowski captured the closest to the pin honors for women. The winner of the longest drive contest for women was Pam Monville, while the longest drive contest winners for men were Dennis Strikulis and Shane McConnell.
