The deadline for Michigan attorneys to complete their annual license renewal is quickly approaching. License renewals, including mandatory disclosures and payment of fees, must be completed online or postmarked by the post office by Sunday, November 30, to avoid a $50 late fee.
To renew a license or check the status of a renewal, attorneys can log in at michbar.org/MemberArea. All active and inactive Michigan attorneys are emailed renewal notices September through November until their renewal is complete. Emeritus and resigned members no longer renew their licenses.
The State Bar of Michigan administers the license renewal process and distributes the funds as directed by the Michigan Supreme Court. Mandatory fees paid by Michigan attorneys fund the State Bar of Michigan, the Attorney Discipline System, and the Client Protection Fund.
