Bloomfield Township Senior Services understands this daily burden and looks to emphasize the importance of family caregivers.
Current Senior Services programming that provides resources and training for caregivers includes:
• Companion Café - a program of welcoming events designed for individuals with memory challenges and their caregivers, offering a meaningful shared experience. Enjoy engaging games, music, art, and the warmth of camaraderie, along with light refreshments.
• Friendship Club - a social model offering engaging, fail-free, and safe programming for older adults experiencing dementia or memory challenges. Friendship Club is dedicated to assisting people in maintaining their highest level of ability through social connection in an encouraging environment. This partnership in caregiving also enables families to keep their loved ones at home by providing much-needed respite.
• Caregiver Support Group – a supportive gathering for caregivers that will educate about dementia, as well as highlight the changes that this disease can have on one’s daily life.
Visit Township Senior Services at www.bloomfieldtwpmi.gov/seniors to learn more about all of these programs, along with dates and times; or call Senior Services at 248-723-3500 for more details.
