On November 20, Cooley Law School’s Lansing campus recognized students in the Michaelmas Term for their achievements during an honors convocation.
Molly Collins, Kaitlyn Dallo, Masara Fargo, Sean Montgomery, Abigail Schuyten, Hussein Sobh, Justin Sterling, and Alyssa Waddington were each presented with the Leadership Achievement Award, which acknowledges those students who have consistently, comprehensively, and effectively provided leadership in a variety of capacities. The award is intended to be the culmination of the recipient’s participation in leadership activities at Cooley.
Collins is a native of Dearborn. While at Cooley, she served as articles editor for the Cooley Law Review, senator of the Student Bar Association, and liaison of the Organization of Women Lawyer Students. She was also a member of the Environmental Law Society and Christian Legal Society.
Dallo is originally from Royal Oak. While at Cooley, she served as vice chief justice on the Moot Court Executive Board; senator of the Student Bar Association, and was a member of the American Constitution Society, International Law Society and Criminal Law Society. She was also a winner of the Intra-School Moot Court and Mock Trial Intra-School competitions.
Fargo is originally from Baghdad, Iraq. While at Cooley, she was a parliamentarian of the Environmental Law Society, and a member of Black Law Students Association, Organization of Women Law Students, American Constitution Society, Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and Christian Legal Society.
Montgomery is originally from Rochester, Mich. At Cooley, he served as vice president of the Environmental Law Society, mentor on the Student Bar Association, and competition director for the Mock Trial Executive Board. He also served as a member of the Criminal Law Society and Mock Trial Executive Board, and participated in the Intra-School Mock Trial Competition. He also received the Student Bar Association Distinguished Student Award.
Schuyten is originally from Rockford, Mich. During her time at Cooley, she served as senator of the Student Bar Association, and was a member of the Criminal Law Society, Moot Court Executive Board, Mock Trial Executive Board. She also participated in the Intra-School Mock Trial Competition.
Sobh is originally from Dearborn. At Cooley, he was treasurer of the Environmental Law Society, Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and Student Bar Association. He was also a member of the International Law Society and American Constitution Society, and mentor for the Student Bar Association.
Sterling is originally from Queens, New York. While at Cooley, he served as senator of the Student Bar Association, and was a member of the Black Law Students Association,
Criminal Law Society, Mock Trial Executive Board, Environmental Law Society, and Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity.
Kara Rosengren received the Alumni Association Distinguished Student Award. This award is given to selected graduating students based on academic accomplishments, professionalism and ethics, leadership, extracurricular activities, and post-graduation plans. The recipients are selected by the Scholarship and Awards Committee of the Cooley Alumni Association. Recipients are presented a diploma frame from the law school.
