“Too Small to Be a Target: Cybersecurity Readiness and Litigation Fallout for Law Firms” is the topic of a Thursday, April 16, program presented by the Professional Development Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association.
The featured speakers on the Zoom program will be Rob Cote, president of Security Vitals, and Brandon Fannon, managing director of Digital Forensics & E-Discovery for Axis Discovery LLC. The program will be moderated by Linda Kennedy of Panagos Kennedy PLLC.
“Many smaller law firms assume they are unlikely targets for cyberattacks – but attackers often see them as easy marks,” said a spokesperson for the OCBA. “This seminar offers both preventive and post-incident perspectives. Our expert presenters will address cybersecurity risks for smaller firms, practical safeguards, training, and the role of cyber insurance.
“They also will examine what happens after a breach, including how forensic findings and security systems become evidence in discovery disputes, expert reports, insurance coverage fights, and potential malpractice claims. Attendees will leave with practical guidance on reducing cyber risk and managing the legal consequences of an attack.”
To register for the program, which runs from noon to 1 p.m. on April 16, visit OCBA.org and click on “events.”
