Woman, who allegedly drove car through home injuring young girl, sentenced

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that 21-year-old Caris Adell Wade, of Detroit, was sentenced on Wednesday by Judge Joseph Toia in the Macomb County Circuit Court on charges related to her driving a vehicle and crashing the car through a Centerline home, severely injuring a young girl.

Wade pled no contest in March to the following charges:

• Reckless Driving Causing Serious Impairment Of A Body Function, a 5-year felony
• Failure To Stop At Scene Of Accident Resulting In Serious Impairment Or Death, a 5-year felony

On Wednesday, April 29, Toia sentenced Wade to 290 days in the Macomb County Jail, with credit for 65 days already served. She is also required to complete 360 hours of community service and will be on probation for three years under strict conditions, including mandatory participation in substance abuse treatment and counseling programs.

Additionally, Wade was ordered to have no contact with the victim or the victim’s family and must remain at least 500 feet away from their home and the victim’s school.
In delivering the sentence, Toia emphasized that he intends to closely monitor Wade’s compliance. He warned that any violation of the probation terms could result in a prison sentence of up to five years.

On Monday, October 13, 2025, at 2:55 am, Wade crashed her vehicle directly into the bedroom of a Centerline residence. In the bedroom sleeping was a 9-year-old girl and her 22-month-old sister. The 9-year-old suffered serious bodily injuries. The 22-month-old was unharmed. After crashing into the home, Wade then fled the scene on foot but was later apprehended by the Warren Police.

“This sentence holds the defendant accountable while emphasizing rehabilitation and community safety. I hope she takes full advantage of the opportunity Judge Toia has given her,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
