Land banks acquire title to properties — most commonly through the tax foreclosure process — and transfer the properties to new owners in a manner consistent with community-based plans that also return the properties to the tax roll.
Oakland County Treasurer Robert Wittenberg, in partnership with the State Land Bank Authority (SLBA), the Oakland County Board of Commissioners and the Oakland County Executive Office, created the Oakland County Land Bank to support economic development and help revitalize communities and neighborhoods. Its mission is to enhance the county through innovative and inclusive economic and community development strategies while helping to facilitate productive reuse of land.
The township official position is for a three-year term, beginning August 18, 2026, through August 17, 2029. The Land Bank Authority currently meets every other month. Additional information can be found on the authority’s website.
The deadline for applications is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 26, and may be submitted online at forms.oakgov.com/79. Applicants should select “Other” from the Board/Committee/Commission drop-down menu and type Oakland County Land Bank Authority in the “Other – Please Specify” field.
