The Michigan Judicial Institute will present a webinar on “Multisystemic Therapy for Justice-Involved Youth with Problematic Sexual Behaviors (MST-PSB): Building Cross-System Partnerships” Friday, July 24, from noon to 1 p.m.
In this webinar, the presenters will provide an overview of Multisystemic Therapy (MST) and Multisystemic Therapy for Youth with Problematic Sexual Behaviors (MST-PSB). The session will offer practical guidance for courts, judicial officers, and agencies on building and sustaining an evidence-based, cross-system treatment team to better support high-risk youth.
Several key topics will be addressed, including:
• An overview of the evidence-based treatment models MST and MST-PSB, including the similarities and differences between the two models.
• Discussion of the role of the judge and judicial leadership in supporting implementation, fostering cross-system collaboration, and helping develop and sustain an effective treatment team.
• Guidance on planning and implementation, including funding, referrals, staffing, and sustainability.
Speaking at the webinar will be Laura Harrington, and Ashley Thering.
Harrington earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Central Michigan University in 2007 and began her career in victim services, where she spent four years providing children’s case management and crisis advocacy. In 2022, she joined MST Associates as an MST-PSB clinical consultant, where she continues to support teams in delivering high-quality, evidence-based services.
Thering currently serves as the MST-PSB Blended Team Supervisor at Community Mental Health for Central Michigan. Prior to her work in Multisystemic Therapy, she gained experience supporting both adults and children across a range of mental health and substance use settings.
This webinar is intended for judges, family court administrators and supervisors, juvenile diversion workers, juvenile intake officers, juvenile probation officers and caseworkers, law enforcement, school personnel, attorneys, social service providers, court-led Juvenile Justice County Team members, and other juvenile justice stakeholders.
