Summer Funding
The Legal Aid and Defender Association (LADA) hosted its summer
fundraiser – “An Evening of Wine and Jazz” – at the Castle Hall in
Detroit on July 21. “This special event was a celebration of the people
and partnerships that make our work possible – from supporters and
volunteers to the individuals and families who have trusted LADA during
some of life’s most difficult moments,” said Michelle Johnson, president
and CEO of the organization that is the oldest provider of free civil
legal assistance to low-income residents in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb
counties. Pictured above are (left to right) Sharon Moore, supervising
attorney for the LADA; Michelle Johnson, a product of Wayne State
University Law School who has worked at LADA since 2002; and Alec Kanno,
operating partner at Prime Concepts Detroit, which counts Castle Hall
and Sexy Steak among its holdings.
