Public invited to provide feedback for long term judicial system strategy in Michigan

The Michigan Supreme Court, along with the Michigan Judicial Council are seeking seeking public feedback regarding the Michigan Judicial Council 2026-29 Strategic Agenda.

Including a broad range of judicial system stakeholders, the Michigan Judicial Council (MJC) makes recommendations to the Michigan Supreme Court on matters pertinent to the administration of justice, including development of a strategic plan for the Michigan judicial branch and suggestions for proposals that would enhance the work of the courts.

The Michigan Judicial Council has outlined the 2026-29 Strategic Agenda, the second strategic agenda since the MJC’s establishment. The Strategic Agenda was developed after analyzing trends and long-term implications, reviewing survey and satisfaction data, and examining recommendations from MJC workgroups and national justice reform efforts.

The Strategic Agenda identifies six priority goals for the Michigan judiciary:

1. Trial Court Funding.
2. Technology.
3. The Public’s Experience and Effective Problem Resolution.
4. Fairness and Accountability.
5. Public Trust and Understanding.
6. Workforce Excellence.

Public feedback will support the MJC in finalizing both the Strategic Agenda and coinciding Operational Plan.

A meeting on the agenda, held via Zoom, will take place Monday, August 24, from 4 to 5 p.m.  Interested individuals must register to reserve a spot on the meeting agenda or provide written comments using this public form. Once registered, they will be given Zoom coordinates for the meeting. The deadline to register for the meeting is August 21 at 5 p.m.  There is no deadline to submit written comments.
