Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that 29-year-old Michael Sikorski, of St. Clair Shores, Michigan was sentenced after pleading no contest in July to Third-Degree Animal Torture.
On Wednesday, September 2, Sikorski was sentenced by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Anthony R. Servitto to 30 days in the Macomb County Jail. He will also serve 18 months of probation, including 90 days on an alcohol tether. As a condition of his sentence, Sikorski is prohibited from consuming alcohol, owning animals, or being around animals.
Servitto sentenced Sikorski within the sentencing guidelines range of zero to three months. The Macomb County Probation Department had recommended a sentence of probation only.
“I hope this man learned that animal abuse is wrong. There is no exception to the moral and legal obligation to care for and not harm your pets. Our society will not stand for such abusive treatment, and neither will my office,” said Lucido.
On Sunday, March 15, 2026, Sikorski assaulted his dog, Steel, by kicking him in the face. Sikorski then lifted Steel by his leash behind Sikorski’s back, strangling Steel with his collar, before swinging the dog over his head and slamming him into the ground. Steel yelped in pain but did not suffer permanent injuries. Steel was safely re-homed.
