Johnson’s five-day jury trial began on Tuesday, September 22, before Judge Diane M. Druzinski of the Macomb County Circuit Court. On Wednesday, September 30, after deliberating for two hours, the jury returned a verdict of guilty as charged on all counts.
Johnson is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Teri L. Dennings on Wednesday, December 2, at 8:30 a.m. Because of his First-Degree Premeditated Murder and Felony Murder convictions, Johnson faces mandatory sentences of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Steve Fox and Carmen Rankin prosecuted the case on behalf of the People.
Johnson and his brother, Tony Johnson, were previously convicted in December 2022 of two counts of First-Degree Murder and two counts of Felony Murder for the deaths of Tina and Krissy Geiger. Henry Johnson received a new trial after an appeal alleging ineffective assistance of counsel. His brother, Tony, remains incarcerated at the Ionia Richard A. Handlon Correctional Facility.
On July 24, 2013, Henry Johnson and Tony Johnson sexually assaulted Krissy Geiger and stabbed both mother and daughter to death in their apartment. The case remained a cold case until it was reopened in 2019, when newly acquired DNA evidence connected the men to the murders.
“I am very thankful to the jury for delivering justice to our victims and their families. More than 13 years have passed, but the pain caused by these heartless and brutal murders will never leave the family of Ms. Geiger and her precious daughter. I hope the knowledge that these men will spend the rest of their lives in prison provides some measure of comfort,” stated Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido
