Man charged after taking knives into federal court

DETROIT (AP) -- Authorities report that a 60-year-old man who says he spent most of the past 40 years behind bars brought knives into Detroit federal court to kill his probation officer and a judge. The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press say that Timothy Daniels passed through security Monday with the knives in his jeans. A complaint says he made it to the ninth floor and gave his probation officer a requested urine sample. Daniels later was arrested after showing the knives to officers. A U.S. marshal wrote in the complaint that Daniels said "he wanted to go back to prison." He's charged with possession of a dangerous weapon in a federal facility. Daniels has past armed robbery and assault convictions. He was released from prison last month. Published: Thu, Mar 6, 2014
